Page Six is breaking down all the celebrity breakups of 2023 — and what caused these stars to part ways.
From reality TV stars to actors and musicians, here’s a look at the couples whose love just wasn’t meant to last a lifetime.
Carly Pearce and Riley King
Page Six broke the news in June that country music singer Carly Pearce and Riley King broke up after two years of dating over her “trust issues.”
“Yes, things didn’t work out,” King also told us of the split. “Carly and I have parted ways and I wish her nothing but the best in both her career and personal life.”
However, a separate source told us that Pearce’s divorce from Michael Ray took a toll on her.
Taylor Swift and Matty Healy
Taylor Swift and Matty Healy called it quits in early June after just one month of dating, Page Six confirmed.
A source later told Entertainment Tonight that the duo went their separate ways because of busy schedules and incompatibility.
“Taylor’s friends want what’s best for her and aren’t shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship,” the source explained, referring to her split from Joe Alwyn.
Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss
“Vanderpump Rules” stars Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss broke up two months after their shocking affair made headlines.
“Raquel dipped out. Sandoval is not the one for her,” an insider told us exclusively on May 17.
Sandoval — who was in a long-term relationship with co-star Ariana Madix at the time — began secretly hooking up with Leviss in July 2022.
It wasn’t until March 1 that Madix found out Sandoval was cheating on her with her best friend after discovering a sexually explicit video of Leviss on his phone.
Jeremy Allen White and Addison Timlin
Jeremy Allen White and Addison Timlin called it quits after four years of marriage on May 11.
According to docs obtained by Page Six, Timlin started the process in Los Angeles but the reason behind their split was not clear.
Allen and Timlin — who met as teenagers — share two daughters: Ezer and Dolores.
Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum Kim Zolciak filed for divorce from ex-NFL pro Kroy Biermann in May 2023 after 11 years of marriage.
News of the pair’s split came the same day it was reported they owe the IRS more than $1 million in unpaid taxes.
Biermann and Zolciak share four biological children together: Sons KJ and Kash, and twins Kaia and Kane. The athlete also adopted the reality star’s daughters from a previous relationship, Brielle and Ariana.
Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner
Kevin Costner’s wife, Christine Baumgartner, filed for divorce from the “Yellowstone” star after 18 years of marriage on May 1.
According to TMZ, the designer cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and asked for joint custody of their three kids: Cayden Hayes and Grace.
“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” a rep for the “Bodyguard” actor confirmed to the outlet.
“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
Cher and Alexander “AE” Edwards
Cher and her much younger beau Alexander “AE” Edwards reportedly broke up.
A source told TMZ on May 1 that they split “a couple weeks ago” but a reason for the breakup was not given.
The “Believe” singer, 76, and rapper, 37, first sparked dating rumors in November 2022.
Toni Garrn and Alex Pettyfer
Model Toni Garrn announced on Instagram in April that she and husband Alex Pettyfer were divorcing after two years of marriage.
“We will continue our relationship as friends and co-parents to our angel Luca,” Garrn shared on Instagram, referring to the pair’s 1-year-old daughter.
“Please respect our privacy during this sensitive time. Thank you.”
Jimmie Allen and Alexis Gale
Country singer Jimmie Allen and his wife, Alexis Gale, called it quits after three years of marriage.
“After much thought and reflection in recent months, Lex & I have made the decision to separate,” Allen wrote on Instagram on April 21. “Our number one priority is and always will be ensuring that our children are healthy, happy and loved, and we remain committed to co-parenting with love and respect for one another.”
Sources told TMZ that the pair, who were expecting their third child at the time of their spilt, had been together on and off up until their breakup.
Shannen Doherty and Kurt Iswarienko
Shannen Doherty filed for divorce from husband Kurt Iswarienko on April 21 after she “had no other option.”
Doherty’s publicist, Leslie Sloane, alluded to the fact that infidelity may have been the cause of their split.
There is reportedly no prenup between the actress and the photographer, who have been married since October 2011 and share no children.
Dan Reynolds and Aja Volkman
Dan Reynolds’ estranged wife, Aja Volkman, finally filed for divorce nearly one year after the pair announced their separation.
Volkman, who shares four children with the Imagine Dragons frontman, filed the docs on April 18 in Los Angeles, according to TMZ.
The exes had previously planned to get divorced in 2018 but reconciled one year later.
Reynolds has already moved on from the split and is dating actress Minka Kelly.
Ricard and Andy Foyé
“Survivor” alum Ricard Foyé and his husband, Andy, announced they were separating after eight years of marriage on April 17.
“Telling my kids that baba & daddy are separating will always hurt,” he tweeted alongside a photo with their daughter Aurelia and son Lucia. “We had a great run.”
The Season 41 castaway continued, “So much love, two beautiful babies & two angel babies. You’re my best friend. Our first family trip as just friends proved even more that we’re still soulmates, just in a different way.”
Shantel VanSanten and Victor Webster
Victor Webster filed for divorce from “One Tree Hill” star Shantel VanSanten in January after one year of marriage, Page Six confirmed.
The “Days of Our Lives” alum didn’t list a reason for the split, but marked the date of separation as Jan. 10. The former couple, who had hosted three wedding receptions, didn’t share any children.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn’s love story ended just a few months into 2023.
They faced numerous bouts of engagement — and even marriage — rumors during their romance, which lasted more than six years, but ultimately went their separate ways.
“It wasn’t dramatic,” a source told Page Six of the pair’s April 2023 breakup. “[The relationship] just ran its course.”
The singer and British actor first crossed paths at the 2016 Met Gala and started secretly dating a few months later.
Elle Fanning and Max Minghella
Elle Fanning confirmed that she and Max Minghella were no longer together in April.
“The Great” actress told Harper’s Bazaar that she’s single again but that she is still a “hopeless romantic.”
She and Minghella met on set of the 2018 film “Teen Spirit” and made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala a year later.
They kept their love life relatively private, making just a few public appearances together over the years.
It’s unclear when exactly their relationship came to an end.
Eva Marcille and Michael Sterling
Eva Marcille is divorcing Michael Sterling after less than five years of marriage, according to documents obtained by Page Six.
The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum filed the paperwork on March 23, saying their union is “irretrievably broken” and that “there are no prospects for a reconciliation.”
The “America’s Next Top Model” Cycle 3 winner is demanding primary custody of their three kids as well as child support.
The estranged couple got engaged on Christmas Day 2017 and said “I do” in October 2018.
Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth
Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth announced their divorce in March 2023. The pair was just two days shy of their 12th wedding anniversary at the time of their split.
“It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the actress wrote on Instagram.
“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together,” she added.
The Oscar winner added that the pair’s “biggest priority” is their son, Tennessee.
Sophia Culpo and Braxton Berrios
Sophia Culpo confirmed her split from Miami Dolphins player Braxton Berrios in a series of TikTok videos.
The “Culpo Sisters” star — whose older sister Olivia Culpo is dating fellow NFL player, Christian McCaffrey — used the hashtags “breakup tiktok,” “single life” and “so single.”
“In other exciting news, so, if you followed along on my family’s show, you know I used to live with Olivia and then I moved to the East Coast with my ex and now I’m back in California,” Sophia said in the video, revealing she had recently gotten out of “a long-term relationship.”
Marvin Gaye III and Wendy Gaye
Marvin Gaye III filed for divorce from his wife, Wendy Gaye, just two months after he was arrested for domestic violence.
Marvin cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and also asked the court not to grant his wife any spousal support, according to TMZ.
In January, Wendy filed a restraining order against the son of the late Motown singer after he allegedly threatened her with a gun and grabbed her by the neck.
He was then booked on misdemeanor domestic violence and felony assault with deadly weapon charges, but was released on a $50,000 bond.
The pair share no children.
Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix
“Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix broke up with longterm boyfriend Tom Sandoval in early March after learning he was cheating on her with their co-star, Raquel Leviss.
Madix discovered the pair’s “months-long” affair when a sexually explicit video of Leviss popped up on her then-boyfriend’s phone.
Sources told Page Six that the 37-year-old was left “heartbroken” and felt completely “betrayed” by her former friend.
An insider even claimed to us that Leviss, 28, had “slept over Tom and Ariana’s house when Ariana’s been out of town.”
While both Leviss and Sandoval, 39, have since issued apologies to Madix, fans were quick to slam their “terrible” pleas for forgiveness.
Bravo confirmed that cameras have been capturing the “Scandoval” fall out and it will air during Season 10.
Ryan and Mackenzie Edwards
Mackenzie Edwards filed for divorce from husband Ryan on Feb. 27. following six years of marriage.
The 27-year-old was also granted a restraining order against the “Teen Mom” alum and given temporary custody of their two children.
The news came after Ryan, 35, was arrested for harassing his wife by posting X-rated images of her on social media after she had got an order of protection against him.
In the order, Mackenzie detailed multiple instances of alleged domestic violence, including a time when Ryan threatened to kill her.
Maddie Ziegler and Eddie Benjamin
Maddie Ziegler and her boyfriend, Eddie Benjamin, have reportedly called it quits.
A source close to the couple told People on Feb. 24 that the “Dance Moms” alum, 20, and Australian singer, 21, split after three years together.
Maisie Williams and Reuben Selby
“Game of Thrones” alum Maisie Williams announced that she and her boyfriend, Reuben Selby, have broken up after five years together on Feb. 23.
“the end of an era 💔,” she wrote. “@reubenselby_ and i have decided to end our relationship.”
Camila Cabello and Austin Kevitch
Camila Cabello and Austin Kevitch called it quits after eight months of dating in February.
According to multiple outlets, the news of the split was announced in Kevitch’s newsletter for his dating app Lox Club.
A source told Entertainment Tonight at the time said the cause of the breakup was their “very busy” careers, saying it “became difficult to balance that and their relationship.”
Falynn Pina and Jaylan Banks
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum Falynn Pina and her fiancé, Jaylan Banks, announced on Feb. 9 that they broke up.
“It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we have decided to end our journey as a couple,” the former couple said in a joint statement posted on their respective profiles.
“Though we love each other very much, we feel it is best to part ways. Our bond as family and friends will never be broken. We ask for privacy at this time.”
The news came less than a month after Pina suffered a miscarriage.
Carly Chaikin and Ryan Bunnell
“Mr. Robot” actress Carly Chaikin and her husband, Ryan Bunnell, are going their separate ways.
Bunnell filed for divorce from Chaikin on Feb. 8, 2023, and he cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of the split, according to the documents.
The couple married in November 2021 after getting engaged in 2018.
Dak Prescott and Natalie Buffett
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and longtime girlfriend Natalie Buffett have broken up, Page Six exclusively revealed on Jan. 25.
The former couple dated for about two years before calling it quits. It’s unclear what led to the split, but both of them have mostly eliminated the other from their Instagram pages.
DeAnna Pappas and Stephen Stagliano
DeAnna Pappas announced that she husband Stephen Stagliano have split after 11 years of marriage.
“It is with immense sadness, Stephen & I have decided to end our relationship as a couple,” the former “Bachelorette” star, 41, wrote in an Instagram post on Jan. 19. “We have been working hard for a long time — both as a married couple & as individuals & have come to the conclusion to remain separate.”
Pappas added that she and Stagliano will “remain loving parents” to their two children, Addison, 8, and Austin, 6, and “will continue to raise them together with love & faith.”
Shannon Beador and John Janssen
Shannon Beador and her boyfriend, John Janssen, split after three and a half years together.
The “Real Housewives of Orange County” star announced on Jan. 11 that she was “blindsided” when Janssen dumped her in late November 2022, just one week after she finished filming Season 17 of the Bravo show.
“We were in a great place,” she told People. “But seven days later, when the cameras were down, it was a completely different story. He told me he was done with the relationship. And to hear what he said to me then was absolutely devastating.”
The reality star, who was previously married to David Beador for 18 years, added that she “never loved anyone more” than Janssen.
Corinne Olympios and Jerry Morris
“Bachelor” alum Corinne Olympios and her boyfriend, Jerry Morris, broke up after nearly one year of dating.
“They were both very busy with their own careers,” a source exclusively told Page Six on Jan. 9.
Despite their careers keeping them apart, the insider added that they also struggled with “trust issues that were weighing heavily on their relationship.”
Olympios confirmed her relationship with the music manager to ET in June 2022.
Ashley Darby and Luke Gulbranson
“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Ashley Darby confirmed on Jan. 8 that she and Luke Gulbranson from “Summer House” called it quits due to ongoing issues stemming from her and estranged husband Michael Darby’s divorce.
“Luke and I are not romantically involved anymore,” she said on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”
Ashley explained that her life is “very complicated,” and despite Gulbranson being a “trooper” and going “through some things,” it wasn’t the right time for their romance.
The Bravolebrites began flirting it up during BravoCon 2022 in October and went Instagram-official a few days before Christmas.
Drake Bell and Janet Von Schmeling
Page Six broke the news on Jan. 2 that Drake Bell separated from his wife, actress Janet Von Schmeling.
Sources told us the two are headed for divorce and that the former Nickelodeon star entered treatment.
In December 2022, the “Drake & Josh” alum was spotted huffing balloons in his car in the parking lot of a California vape shop while the pair’s young son sat in the back seat.
Insiders told us that Von Schmeling “had enough” and moved back to Florida with their child to be closer to her family.
The duo began dating in 2013 and married in an intimate ceremony in 2018.
