When Sabrina first heard the knock on their door, she assumed it was room service or a cleaner. “Mom, could you please open that for me?” She asked sweetly.

As her mother headed for the door, Sabrina turned to her bridesmaids. They were gushing over her. “You look so beautiful. Daniel’s the luckiest man in the world!”

Her maid of honor, Olivia, said. They were unaware of what was happening behind them.

The Woman

While the young women huddled together for a photo, Sabrina’s mother was answering the door. “Is Sabrina Campbell here?” The mysterious woman, Stephanie, questioned, her eyes not quite reaching the woman’s face.

The older woman assumed she was one of Sabrina’s friends.

“Yes, she is,” She smiled politely and allowed the woman to step into the room. The day was about to take a tragic turn.

Something Was Up

“Sabrina, honey. Somebody is here to see you,” Her mother called from the door. Sabrina spun around in her beautiful white gown. But as soon as she turned to face the woman, she could tell that something wasn’t right.

As the weeks turned into months, Sabrina got used to having most dinners by herself.

Tension

Tension hung in the air as Sabrina continued her preparations.

Stephanie was told to take a seat in the front row during the ceremony, but she had no idea what was about to happen.

Although her heart was crushed into thousands of pieces, Sabrina put on a brave face as she stepped into her shoes and grabbed her bouquet. On the inside, she was having a meltdown.

“Hello everyone,” She said as she turned to the crowd.

“It’s so nice to see you all here at what was supposed to be Dan and I’s wedding,” She said confidently. Gasps filled the small room.

Exposing Him

“You see, for the last few months, my fiance has been “working late” three nights a week. According to him, it was all to give me a brighter future,” She laughed bitterly.

Tears sprung to her mother’s eyes.

She had always wanted the best for her daughter, and she knew how much this day meant to Sabrina. She continued.

She Kept Going

“Well, it turns out that he has been spending these evenings with his ex-girlfriend, one he was dating about a year before he asked me out,” She could see the tears welling up inside of her eyes, but she kept going.

“They have been booking out motel rooms while I’ve been at home, eating dinner by myself and thinking about how my fiance is working overtime to support me. What a fool I’ve been.”

Horrified

The church filled with muffled voices as everyone spoke amongst themselves, horrified by the revelation. Daniel looked like he had seen a ghost.

He tried to speak to Sabrina in private, but she wouldn’t have it.

“I want nothing to do with you ever again. We are through,” She said and pulled the engagement ring from her finger, tossing it at his feet.

She Left
