The 6 Best New Movies and TV Shows Streaming This Weekend

Congratulations on making it to the end of another week. As a reward, there’s a new selection of TV shows and movies headed to streaming. We’ve rounded up the very best TV premieres, specials, and movie streaming debuts worth checking out this weekend.

It’s a movie-light week (but, hey, you can technically already stream “The Drama” if you rent or purchase it on Amazon), but there is an intriguing field-good octopus drama starring Sally Field on Netflix. On the TV side, “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” is back for another season on Paramount Plus, and the “Ozark” co-creator’s latest TV project has landed on Peacock. We’ve rounded up (and counted down) the best streaming premieres around the week of May 8, 2026.

6: RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars

If you’ve been lost since the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” finale in April, you can be Ru-leaved, since the latest season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” is finally here. Season 11 brings together 18 all-stars from past seasons for another shot at victory. The all-star guest judge line-up includes Law Roach, Brian Tyree Henry, Reneé Rapp, Kate Hudson, Christina Ricci, and Janelle James. Unlike the flagship series, you won’t need to figure out how to stream MTV to watch live. New episodes stream on Paramount Plus on Fridays.

5: Citadel

If you’d forgotten about Prime Video’s spy drama, you’re not alone. The first season of “Citadel” premiered three years ago, but the series has returned for a flashy new season. Stanley Tucci takes the helm in Season 2, but he’s joined by a few familiar faces. Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden are among the returning ensemble, along with new cast members Jack Reynor and Matt Berry, among others. The full season is now streaming on Prime Video.

4: Remarkably Bright Creatures

In this odd throuple story, Sally Field stars as a night cleaner at an aquarium grappling with the long-ago disappearance of her son. She shares a special relationship with the aquarium’s octopus, voiced by Alfred Molina, who serves as a narrator. When a young man (Lewis Pullman) rolls into town searching for his father and temp work, the three form an unlikely bond. The movie, which is pegged to Mother’s Day in its advertising, could be a good one to watch with mom this weekend. It’s streaming on Netflix.

3: Lord of the Flies

Before “Yellowjackets,” there was “Lord of the Flies,” and after “Yellowjackets,” there’s… “Lord of the Flies” again. The latest interpretation of William Golding’s iconic novel gives the survival story the TV treatment. The story follows a group of young boys who become stranded on an island and quickly descend into a chaotic new way of life. The series was fittingly made for TV by Jack Thorne, the co-creator of last year’s chilling, award-winning series “Adolescence.” All episodes are streaming on Netflix.

2: The Bear

While the fifth and final season of “The Bear” isn’t back until next month, fans got a secret surprise this week. “Gary” serves up a one-off prequel that follows Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Mikey (Jon Bernthal) on a road trip to Gary, Indiana, to deliver a package. It’s classic “The Bear,” and a nice way to get more time with Bernthal’s late character, whose periodic flashback appearances in the series intentionally leave you feeling like you haven’t quite had enough. The new episode is streaming on Hulu or the Disney Plus and Hulu bundle.

1: M.I.A.

“Ozark” co-creator Bill Dubuque sticks with his drug empire family storytelling in his latest turn to TV. However, “M.I.A.” trades the gloomy lake setting of Missouri for the breezy beaches of the Florida Keys. The series follows a young woman (Shannon Gisela) who sets out on a revenge mission following the violent death of her family members, who were behind a drug-running operation. All episodes are now streaming on Peacock.
