A Horrible Boss There was no doubt in her mind that this man was a terrible boss. She could not deal with his abuse and condescension any longer. Even though she had only been working there for less than five months, it felt like forever. However, the manager was not aware of the fact that the waitress that he had been treating like trash knew some things about him. She will have her revenge. How Did They End Up There? First impressions matter, and she wanted to give her best. This time, she had reached her breaking point and realized she no longer had any options. She had been working there for a few months, and she was very thankful for her job. This was not her first job in the fast-food industry, and it did not take her very long to get used to how the restaurant works. Things were going swimmingly, but it all changed very quickly. She tried to speak to him about it, but he simply told her she should just quit if she was so unhappy with her job. He constantly made fun of her degree and told her that in 40 years, she would still be working as a waitress at Red Robin. Things did not stop there. The men gathered in his office and pretended that they owned the restaurant. To add insult to injury, they never tip her for her service! One of the friends also made a crude comment toward Laura. Her manager did not do anything about it, but instead, he laughed. Laura had heard many awful things from these men. They were having a conversation about something. Laura did not like getting into other people’s business, especially not sketchy men like those. She thought she would hear the men making crude comments or having menial conversations but what she heard was much worse. She felt disgusted by what she heard. But she was now torn between telling someone about it and staying out of trouble by pretending she didn’t know. But something happened that made her rethink her choice. And then, she made a decision, even though she knew it could be risky for her: she went all out with the boss’ secret. She went to talk to the boss, and she told her about her decision to leave. She didn’t intend to speak about what she had heard a few days ago. But the boss refused to pay her; he used all types of excuses, said she hadn’t worked enough, she hadn’t given him enough notice, etc. He just wasn’t willing to give her that months’ salary. That was when Laura knew what to do. She pretended to accept to keep working there. Laura clocked out before her shift was supposed to end and changed into her regular clothes. The manager saw this and ran towards her, asking, “What do you think you’re doing?”. Initially, she intended to stay out of it; but when her boss refused to pay her, she decided to tell the police about it. As for Laura, she got paid for her last month at Red Robin and found a job in a different restaurant shortly afterward. She’s still studying French literature and working hard to support herself.
