The novel’s themes of morality and empathy are as relevant today as they were then.
My Thoughts
I first read Harper Lee’s classic in school, and it has remained a favourite of mine. The way the story unfolds through the eyes of young Scout is both touching and eye-opening. It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of understanding and compassion. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend giving it a try.
Someone We Know by Shari Lapena

In this intriguing thriller, a quiet neighbourhood is rocked by a series of break-ins and secrets. When a woman goes missing, the residents start to suspect each other. With twists and turns at every corner, Someone We Know keeps you guessing until the very end.
My Thoughts
I’m a big fan of Shari Lapena’s work, and this book did not disappoint. It was suspenseful and kept me turning the pages. Her ability to weave complicated relationships into a thrilling plot is impressive. If you enjoy mysteries, this book is a must-read.
Shallow Graves by Ray Fysh

My Thoughts
Being a true crime fan, I found this book fascinating. Ray Fysh does an excellent job of balancing factual reporting with compelling storytelling. It’s a gripping read for anyone who wants to understand the complexities of detective work.

The Killing Jar by Nicola Monaghan

My Thoughts
I loved this book, especially because it’s based in Nottingham. The local dialect adds authenticity, though it might be challenging for some readers not from the area. Still, the story is well worth it. Nicola Monaghan captures the essence of the place and its people brilliantly.
Abroad in Japan by Chris Broad
Synopsis
Chris Broad’s memoir chronicles his adventures teaching English in Japan. It offers a humorous and insightful look into Japanese culture and the challenges of living abroad.
My Thoughts
I enjoyed the sections about his teaching experiences the most. They were relatable and filled with humour. However, the parts about his YouTube channel were less engaging for me. Still, it’s a fun read for anyone curious about living in Japan.
The Red House by Roz Watkins
Synopsis
The Red House is a suspenseful novel set in the eerie Peak District in the UK, this is a mystery that’s as gripping as a winter chill. With twists that’ll make a rollercoaster seem straight, this read is not to be missed by those who love a puzzle. Imagine growing up believing your older brother had killed your family when you were 4 years old and has since been in a vegetative state yet you start to wonder if it is true and before you know it you find that everything wasn’t as you are led to believe.
My Thoughts
This was my first Roz Watkins book, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The plot was intriguing, and the characters were well-developed. I’m eager to explore more of her work after reading this.

My Thoughts
While not quite as captivating as Wrong Place Wrong Time, I still really enjoyed it. McAllister’s ability to create tension and suspense is impressive, making it a worthwhile read.

I’m not typically a fan of chick lit, but this book pleasantly surprised me. It was light-hearted, fun, and perfect for a relaxing read. Beth O’Leary’s writing is charming, and I enjoyed the character dynamics.

My Thoughts
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t put it down. Clemence Michallon’s storytelling is masterful, making it a must-read for thriller enthusiasts.
The Cellar by Natasha Preston
Synopsis
The Cellar follows the story of a young woman kidnapped and held captive who then discovers she isn’t alone being held captive and her kidnapper is more twisted than she originally thought. It’s a dark tale of survival and resilience.
My Thoughts
While often labelled as a young adult book, I found it too intense for that category. The writing is compelling, and the story is incredibly dark. It’s a gripping read for those who enjoy darker narratives.
None of This is True by Lisa Jewell

None of This is True is a suspenseful novel about a woman entangled in a web of lies and deception. The story keeps readers guessing as secrets unravel.
My Thoughts
While I enjoyed this book, it didn’t quite live up to some of Jewell’s other works. Still, her ability to craft a mystery is evident, making it a worthwhile read for fans of the genre.
