Elderly Man Tells Kid To Stop Splashing Him Unaware Of Who Dad Is

Selfish 

The old man’s blood was boiling. How could the child and his parents be so selfish? He began making his way out of the pool. They thought he was leaving, but in reality, he was getting his revenge. 

Robert would not allow the little boy and his parents to get away with this. He slowly made his way across the warm bricks along the pool.

He was going to make them regret ever messing with him.

A Hot Day

That day, Robert just wanted a nice, relaxing day at the public pool in town.

It was the middle of summer, and it was one hundred degrees outside. All he wanted was to cool down and have a relaxing day. 

He set up his towel and bought himself a soda from the vending machine. All in all, it seemed to be a perfect day, but soon, that would change. 

Lovely People 

It was a busy day at the pool. Families and friends roamed the small area, eating ice cream and laughing happily.

Robert never really minded sharing the pool with children and their parents; he admired them. His town was filled with lovely people who disciplined their children.

But unfortunately for Robert, he would encounter a family who did things a little differently. 

The Laugh 

He could hear the boy’s laugh from a mile away as he floated in the cool water. A smile tugged at his lips. There was nothing he enjoyed more than the laughter of children. 

Soon enough, the boy and his parents stepped through the gate, towels and a picnic basket in hand.

Robert didn’t think much of them at first. But they were about to turn his entire day upside down. 

Unexpected 

The mother and father sat on the side of the pool, sunglasses covering their eyes.

They barely acknowledged their son, who was taking his t-shirt off, ready to create chaos in the public pool. 

When the little boy first jumped into the pool, sending droplets of water spraying everywhere, Robert didn’t mind. But then, the boy did something truly unexpected. 

Blissfully Unaware 

Robert was floating above the water, his eyes shut as he let the sun brown his skin. He was blissfully unaware of the eyes locking on him from across the pool.

The little boy had a smirk on his face as he began pedaling toward the man.

Robert was minding his business. All he wanted was to be left alone while he cooled off after a long morning, but the little boy was about to disrupt his plan. 

Splashing Him 

Robert could feel the current shifting around him, but he was unaware of the little boy beside him until he felt the first splash of water hit him right in the face.

Astonished, Robert opened his eyes and spotted the boy before him. He held a mischievous expression as he splashed him in the face once again.  

“Hey, little boy, don’t do that,” He said, a stern look on his face. But, unfortunately for Robert, the boy’s parents noticed, and they were about to turn his day into a living nightmare. 

A Tragic Life 

Growing old in Tampa, Florida, Robert Shelby was a sweet old man.

But over the years, he’d faced many tragedies. When his wife, Sandy, lost her battle with cancer in 2015, his entire world came crumbling down around him. 

They never had any children, and when she died, he was left all alone. He’d always dreamed of becoming a father and a grandfather. 

Doing What He Could 

Robert spent the first two years after she died in a dark place. Every day, he found himself regretting his decisions. Now that she was gone, he truly was all alone. 

But as the years passed, Robert realized that living in regret wasn’t going to change his situation.

He was responsible for his happiness. From that day forward, he did everything in his power to make his life more enjoyable. 

Doing His Best 

Soon enough, Robert found himself going out on his own. There was nothing he enjoyed more than having dinner for one at a local pub, and over the weekends, he would find fun and exciting things to do around town.

Although his heart was still broken, he tried to make the most out of his situation.

Sandy was gone, and now, picking up the pieces was up to him. But he had no idea what would happen one casual Saturday afternoon. 

The Summer 

That summer was blisteringly hot, and Robert had always hated the heat. When he heard that a public pool had opened in town, he couldn’t resist the urge to visit it. 

That Saturday morning, he knew just what he wanted to do. As soon as he got to the public pool, he set up his towel and bought himself a soda from a vending machine.

All in all, it seemed to be a perfect day, but soon, that would change. 

A Busy Day 

He was surprised to find just how busy the pool was on that day. Families gathered around as mothers and fathers tanned in the sun while their children swam in the pool.

Robert didn’t mind. He was grateful that he got to share the pool with his people. He loved the town he lived in. It was filled with some of the most amazing people.

But he was about to meet someone truly terrible.

The Family 

When the little boy and his parents first stepped through the gate, Robert didn’t think much of it.  The parents set up a picnic blanket while their son ran toward the pool, removing his shirt.

The mother and father sat on the side of the pool, sunglasses covering their eyes. They barely acknowledged their son as he dived in, sending water splashing everywhere.

Robert didn’t mind, but the situation was about to take a turn for the worse. 

What He’d Been Waiting For 

Robert was peaceful in the water. His eyes were shut as he floated in the icy pool.

This was what he’d been waiting for all week. He had no idea that the boy was watching him from across the pool. 

He slowly began approaching Robert, ready to disrupt the old man’s peace. That’s when it happened. 

The First Splash 

Robert could feel the current shifting around him, and then, he felt the first splash of water hit him right in the face.

He jumped as he opened his eyes, seeing the little boy right beside him. 

The boy smirked before splashing him once again. “Hey little boy, don’t do that,” He said, a stern look on his face. But the situation was about to take a drastic turn. 

Ignoring Him 

The little boy seemed to ignore Robert’s request. Once again, he shoved his hand under the water and splashed it into Robert’s face.

At first, the old man was calm, but he was starting to get annoyed. 

“Hey, stop,” He warned, but that’s when he heard the voice from beside the pool. Things were about to get ugly for the old man. 

The Mother 

“Hey! You stay away from my son!” The woman warned. Although her eyes hid behind large sunglasses, Robert could still see the deep frown between her eyebrows. 

“I am only asking him to stop splashing me. Are you his mother?” Robert asked calmly.

Being a gentleman, he never was the type to fight. But this woman was about to see a side of him that he barely showed the world. 

Confrontation 

“Yes, I am his mother,” The woman arose from her seat, her hands on her hips as she stood beside the pool, glaring down at the old man. “You get away from my son!” She yelled. Robert watched as her husband stood up, ready to back his wife.

“Ma’am, I am only asking your son to stop splashing me in the face. According to the pool’s rules, splashing is not allowed,” He said kindly, but the woman had already decided that he was the enemy. 

Creep

“You do not get to tell my son what he can and can’t do. Get away from him, you creep!” The father spoke up, backing his wife. 

Robert was taken aback. He was anything but a creep, he was simply asking the boy to behave.

The little boy stared up at him mischievously before splashing him once again. Robert could feel his patience running thin. 

Encouraging Him 

“Go on, Topher, keep splashing the creep,” The mother told her young child, and he listened. The boy laughed hysterically as he continued to splash Robert right in the face. 

Robert was at a loss for words. It was clear that the young couple and their son did not respect their elders.

Robert stood motionless as the mother continued to encourage her son. But the situation was about to spiral out of control.

Following Him 

Robert decided to swim away from the boy, but it didn’t make a difference. The boy followed him as he splashed the back of his head. But Robert decided to ignore him. He thought that if he ignored him for long enough, the boy would grow bored. 

But he was wrong. The minutes were ticking by, and the boy wasn’t stopping.

His parents had taken their seats and were enjoying their picnic, unbothered by their son’s actions. But Robert was about to do something they would never forget. 

Twenty Minutes

Eventually, twenty minutes had passed, and the little boy was still splashing away.

Other people had noticed. Mothers and fathers were staring at the boy with disapproval in their eyes. Others were staring judgmentally at his parents. 

Robert knew he had to do something. The boy wasn’t going to stop on his own. He wondered for a moment, and then, he thought of the perfect plan.
