Grumpy? Gain new customers through Testimonials (Part 1 of 3)
Many of you know that I am a serial student of Dan Kennedy and GKIC courses on cutting edge marketing. In fact, I will be speaking at their conference in Denver this fall Check it out Here. One of the classes that I purchased earlier this year blew me away. One of my favorite sections was on Testimonials. I was a member of BNI for a decade and the verbal testimonials really helped members grow their businesses by leaps and bounds. The problem was that the testimonials were verbal and there was no one recording them in writing, audio, or video.
1. Immortalize your testimonials. Get them in Writing! Voice recording! VIDEO! Use them on your website, books, marketing collateral, email signature, even your business card.
2. Before and After: Brilliant imagery of the stories of how the service or product improved their lives! Weight loss stories have before and after pictures. A real estate testimonial can be improved by the client describing how unhappy they were in their last dwelling (cramped space, or too much work to keep up with a large house for an empty nester). Technology clients can describe the thousands of dollars per hour they lose when the system is down and how a managed service saves them headaches and lots of money.
3. Testimonials and referrals: Set the Expectation for new customers to give you these by having your current clients mention that they refer everyone to you because you are STELLAR at you job! Set up a pictures in your office like a referral tree to show where your clients help spread the word about how great you are.
4. Answer FAQ’s and Bust Myths: about your services with testimonials that answer to those questions and fears. Bill Gough of BGI Systems mentions in the video testimonial that he did for me that he was a bit skeptical about outsourcing his social media campaigns… Bill is a renewing customer and we plan on working together for a long time.
