Nobody Wanted the Dog, So a Woman Took Him In— But On Their First Visit to the Vet, He Called The Cops
Starting Anew
The lovely suburb of Wayland Boston had been Clara’s home for a year now.
She enjoyed the beautiful parks near her place of work. However, something was still missing from her happiness.
Her life needed something more. The independent woman often felt lonely and needed a friend, despite being an independent woman.
Do Good
Clara decided to visit the animal shelter one day. For a while, she had considered adopting a dog, but had not found the right one.
Clara was a kind-hearted person who knew that adopting a dog was the right decision for her.
As she walked around, evaluating each dog, she tried to find the perfect match for her.
It’s Him
She hadn’t noticed any of the dogs until she saw Rufus. He was looking at her with big brown eyes as if begging for her to take him home.
“That’s it,” she replied to the caretaker.
His calm demeanor attracted her, and she sensed he would be an excellent companion.
Good Boy
Rufus was a scruffy little terrier who had lived at the animal shelter for years.
Potential adopters passed over Rufus every day in favor of other, more active dogs at the shelter.
There was little hope that Rufus would ever find a permanent home among the shelter workers. Until now. “He is a mind of his own, this one,” the caretaker said with a smile, “but what a heart, he is my favorite as well.”
Having A Personality
While other dogs got adopted from the shelter, Rufus sat unnoticed in the corner of his cage, watching others get adopted.
He was a medium-sized black dog with short fur and a calm disposition.
Occasionally, he would get a sudden burst of energy and run around the shelter causing the other dogs to bark and jump.
Quite A Match
Despite Rufus’ occasional bouts of energy, Clara decided to adopt him. After taking him home, she discovered he was extremely calm and well-behaved. As she escorted him inside, she said, “Welcome home boy, I’m sure you’ll love it here.”.
An expression of happiness could be seen on his face.
It took him some time to get used to the house. Sometimes he would get the “zoomies” and do things like knock over furniture and make a mess.
New House
Rufus was initially shy around Clara, but he soon warmed up to her. She settled him into his new surroundings and loved having him at home.
Clara and Rufus were content to just laze around the house, napping and cuddling.
To prevent him from knocking over objects in his path, Clara rearranged her entire house. It was as if I had a baby.
A Strange Dog
The next morning, Clara awoke to find Rufus staring intently at the corner of the room. Although she thought it was odd, she didn’t pay much attention to it.
As soon as Rufus woke up the next morning, he was staring at the same spot.
Clara became concerned about Rufus’s behavior and began to wonder if there was something wrong with him.
Moment Of Horror
She was scared when she awoke to find Rufus watching her from the corner of her bedroom. Rufus stared at the same spot even after she got out of bed.
Although she tried to distract him, he wouldn’t budge. Clara began to worry after this continued for a few days.
Her mind began to wonder whether Rufus was seeing something that she was not.
A Rational Explanation
She decided to take Rufus to the vet for a check-up. The vet examined Rufus thoroughly, but everything appeared to be normal.
Even his eyesight seemed to be fine for an old dog.
Clara couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off about Rufus. But she didn’t want to tell the vet what she saw Rufus do.
Paranoia
Clara’s decision to take Rufus to the vet for a checkup made things worse.
She felt bad that she wasn’t honest with the vet but she knew he would think she was crazy.
She kept Rufus’s night behavior a secret. The oblivious woman didn’t know it was only a matter of time before it would start affecting his behavior.
Moody Doggy
Days turned into weeks, and Rufus’s behavior continued to unsettle Clara. She started to notice that Rufus would only stare at the corner of the room when she was around.
When she left the room, Rufus would stop staring and go back to napping or playing with his toys.
He was a very moody dog and had a personality of his own.
A Thorough Investigation
Clara became increasingly curious about what was going on and started to research online for answers. She came across stories of dogs that could sense paranormal activity and wondered if that was what Rufus was sensing.
Things were getting eerily suspicious and she had to get to the bottom of it.
She decided to buy a night vision camera to check what was going on while she was asleep.
Things In The Dark
One night, Clara decided to set up a camera in the corner of the room where Rufus had been staring. She went to bed and tried to fall asleep but found herself constantly waking up to check the camera. Eventually, she fell asleep and didn’t hear anything through the night.
In the morning, Clara checked the footage from the camera and was shocked by what she saw. At around 2 am, Rufus had gotten up from his bed and walked over to the corner of the room. She couldn’t believe what the little dog was doing. Luckily the camera caught everything. “Rufus!” she screamed at him, the confused dog just looked up at her. He didn’t know what it was.
