If you ever swayed under a gymnasium’s disco ball, clutched a corsage, or pressed your ear to a late-night radio dedication in the late 1980s, chances are Glenn Medeiros provided the soundtrack.

His 1987 ballad “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You” became the anthem for proms, weddings, and countless romantic moments that defined a generation’s memories of love and youth.

Now, nearly four decades later, the man behind that unforgettable voice is experiencing something of a renaissance—and it’s all thanks to his daughter’s TikTok videos.

A journey that started (and continues) in Hawaii

Glenn Medeiros didn’t take the typical path to pop stardom.

His journey began in Hawaii, where he won a major local competition called “Brown Bags to Stardom.” That victory launched him onto a trajectory that would eventually land his voice in the hearts of millions worldwide.

The story of that remarkable rise—from a young Hawaiian singer to an international sensation—is one Medeiros has finally put to paper in his 2025 memoir, “From One Stage to Another,” giving fans an intimate look at the experiences that shaped both his career and his life.

For those who remember the era, Medeiros represented something special: a genuine, romantic voice in an age of synthesizers and power ballads.

His delivery of “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You” captured a sincerity that resonated with listeners who were falling in love, getting married, or simply dreaming of their own romantic futures.

What many fans may not realize is that the 1980s heartthrob made a dramatic life change after his years in the spotlight. Glenn Medeiros has since traded in his singing career to become the president of Hawaii’s only all-boys school, the Saint Louis School in Honolulu.

It’s a transformation that speaks to the different chapters life offers us.

Since moving to Hawaii and leaving his singing career in the rear view mirror, Medeiros has built a full family life.

He and his wife Tammy welcomed two children with music-inspired names that hint at their father’s artistic legacy—daughter Lyric, 24, and son Chord, 25.

A new generation discovers Glenn Medeiros’ songs

Thanks to his daughter’s TikTok videos, Glenn’s hit song won’t be forgotten.

Lyric Medeiros has taken it upon herself to introduce her father’s music to a new generation of listeners, creating viral content that bridges the gap between 1980s nostalgia and modern social media culture.

In one June 2022 video, Lyric and her father gave his fans what they’ve been asking for and sang a duet of “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You.” The video captures a father and daughter sharing the song that made him famous, their voices blending across generations.

In an April 2023 video, Lyric and her mother joined Glenn as they danced to the song, creating a family moment that resonated with viewers who remembered dancing to that same melody decades ago.

The father-daughter duo opened up about his nostalgic rise to fame in an interview with TODAY.com, published Jan. 30.

For Lyric, growing up as Glenn Medeiros’s daughter meant constant reminders of her father’s musical impact on people’s lives.

“I remember adults coming up to me and saying, ‘Ohhh, Medeiros! Like Glenn Medeiros, the guy who sang that love song!’ And then they start singing it in front of me,” Lyric told TODAY. “Older women would come up to me and say, ‘Oh, he was a heartthrob!’”

Those encounters paint a picture familiar to anyone who lived through the era—the way certain songs become woven into the fabric of our most precious memories. For many, hearing “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You” instantly transports them back to a specific moment, a specific person, a specific feeling.

Glenn Medeiros is quite the reluctant TikTok star

Despite his daughter’s enthusiasm for social media content creation, Glenn admits that appearing in videos doesn’t come naturally to him anymore.

In his interview with TODAY.com, Glenn said that making TikTok videos is never his “first choice of things to do.” But his love for his daughter rules above everything else.

“It’s a rare occasion to have my dad willingly film a video with me, and most of the time, I just ask him to stand in the video while I do a trending sound or something like that,” Lyric said, per TODAY.com.

“I’m not really so much into doing the videos, and so every time she asks me to go on, I’m like, ‘All right, OK,’” Glenn added. “I’m not much of a dancer, you know, and Lyric’s a good dancer, so I try to have fun with it as much as I can.”

There’s something endearing about a former pop star who’s more comfortable running a school than performing for cameras—yet who still shows up for his daughter when she asks.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the Medeiros family tree

As fate would have it, Lyric has inherited her father’s singing ability.

She competed on Season 21 of American Idol in 2023 and advanced to Hollywood with her golden ticket, but was eliminated in the next round.

“Lyric is constantly singing. I mean, non stop,” Lyric Medeiros’ dad said to TODAY.com. “My wife will sit there and listen to her the whole time. But for me, it’s like, ‘Oh my god, I need an ear break, Lyric, please.’”

Luckily for Glenn, music isn’t Lyric’s only pursuit.

She also has her MBA and is a full-time attorney—proving that talent and ambition can take many forms across a single life, much like her father demonstrated in his own journey from singer to educator.

Still, the father-daughter duo often perform together at a luau on Oahu, which includes a duet of his most famous song.

The heartthrob who sang about eternal love went on to build exactly that—a lasting marriage, children who carry music in their names and their souls, and a meaningful second career shaping young lives.

And thanks to Lyric’s TikTok videos, a whole new generation is discovering why their parents get misty-eyed when that familiar melody begins to play.
