Bachelor in Paradise couple Michael Allio and Danielle Maltby met on the beaches of Mexico, but did their romance stand the test of time? This was Michael’s first time on BiP and Danielle returned for another attempt at finding love on the hot summer spinoff. Luckily, taking a chance paid off, and they found love with each other. However, fans are likely wondering if their love lasted after the show.
Are Michael Allio and Danielle Maltby Engaged?
Michael and Danielle find a love connection during their time in Paradise, but they did not get engaged. They left the reality TV spinoff as boyfriend and girlfriend.
Prior to Danielle’s arrival, Michael had a brief romance with Sierra Jackson but broke things off with her during week 2.
Are Michael Allio and Danielle Maltby Still Together?
During the season 8 reunion, which was filmed in November 2022, the pair revealed that they are still going strong. Danielle even has plans to relocate from Colorado to Michael’s home state of Ohio, but they are “taking things slow” and won’t be living together right away.
Although Michael and Danielle were supposed to be in hiding after their time on the ABC show, they left a major hint that they were still together in August 2022. Following the wedding of BiP’s resident bartender Wells Adams and Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland, a photo emerged of the duo in arms cozied up together for a group picture at the nuptials. There were also multiple videos circulating on social media that showed them in close contact on the dance floor.
By early 2023, the duo were still going strong, as Michael shared in February that he was helping Danielle move in with him to Ohio.
“Pack it up, pack it up,” he shared via his Instagram Stories. “Next stop … Cleveland.”
However, Danielle and Michael sparked breakup speculation after they slowed down their social media mentions of one another.
Worried fans started asking what the status of their relationship was in the comment section of their July 2023 Instagram posts, prompting Michael to share a brief update about their status.
“I’ll say this. Being in a public relationship, it isn’t fun,” Michael said during an interview on the “She’s All Bach” podcast. “Danielle and I, like, both agree that the only people that should be in our relationship are us two. So we think just the healthiest way to have a relationship is to keep it private.”
The father of one added that he and Danielle “both love each other, like, very much.”
Danielle continued to fuel split rumors when fans noticed that she deleted all of her photos with Michal on Instagram in September.
When Did Michael Allio and Danielle Maltby Split?
Michael later confirmed their split while appearing on the September 18 episode of Jason Tartick’s “Trading Secrets” podcast. “I guess I’ll just come out with it. We’re not together anymore,” he said. “It’s not what we planned. We both threw a lot into this relationship and it’s really awful when it doesn’t work out.”
While Michael noted that “love is there” between him and Danielle, he said they’re “not necessarily compatible.”
“You mourn the loss, not of just that person and that friend in your life, but also the future that you had envisioned,” he continued. “And it’s to no fault of hers.”
Michael added that there’s no bad blood between him and Danielle and said he has “so much admiration” for her after she “poured everything” into their relationship.
“We’re still you know working through some things and trying to stay close. Yeah, but yeah last couple months have been really tough,” the reality star concluded. “Starting over again, it is always frightening. It’s really frightening, but it’s a part of it. I know that time will heal because I’ve felt that before, but it doesn’t make it any less difficult.”
Four days later, Danielle took to her Instagram Stories to break her silence on their split. “This breakup was not a mutual decision arriving at some perception of incompatibilities,” she wrote on September 22. “However, I do hope the best for Michael, and I will always have [his son] James in my heart as we move forward separately.”

Her story is also very tragic,” he explained during the “Talking It Out With Bachelor Nation” podcast episode. “She lost her husband to COVID and she has a young child, Elvis, who’s around James’ age. She lives out in L.A. now, but once I got off the show, she reached out and we started talking.”
