GTF Chromium Provides Aging Skin Care
GTF Chromium is an absorbable form of the essential trace mineral chromium. It is cultured in live probiotics. This is the healthy bacteria found naturally in fermented foods such as yogurt or sauerkraut. It is recommended by many experts for anti-aging and aging skin care.
GTF (glucose tolerance factor) chromium increases metabolism which encourages weight loss. It will reduce cholesterol and triglycerides in diabetics and lower blood sugar levels by working with insulin to transport glucose into cells to be used as energy. Sugar spikes can damage the tissues that help our skin look young and supple. Excess sugar will attach to proteins in our body tissues and break them down. This is a major reason our cells age. Our bodies require trace amounts of chromium for processing carbohydrates and fats. This supplement improves the body’s sensitivity to insulin. Good health is the most important asset for aging skin care.

- Lower blood sugar by working with insulin to transport glucose into cells.
- Improve LDL cholesterol.
- Improve triglycerides in diabetics.
- Helps process carbohydrates and fats.

Some experts believe if every American took a 100 mcg tablet 3 times a day, ate reasonably healthy, and made a modest effort to get some form of daily exercise, it would virtually wipe out diabetes. The diet of the American people, along with the fact that some believe the minerals are slowly being depleted from our soil, is causing lower levels of chromium. Levels of chromium also diminish with age.
Chromium is necessary for proper functioning insulin. Insulin regulates energy and metabolism; it sends signals to cells to absorb nutrients like sugar and amino acids. All those vitamins and antioxidants can’t be absorbed properly if the insulin is not functioning at an optimum level. Since antioxidants are one of the most important requirements for anti-aging and aging skin care, our bodies must be capable of metabolizing the vitamins and antioxidants it receives. Low insulin production can cause weight gain and fatigue. Nutrients our bodies require to function optimally are not absorbed, but stored as additional body fat.
Chromium is an essential nutrient and can be found in beef, beer, black pepper, cheese, fresh fruit, lobsters, mushrooms, potatoes, bran cereals, seafood, green beans, broccoli, whole grains, wines, and a few other foods. Even with the wide availability of this important nutrient, studies indicate that 90% of Americans do not get enough chromium in their diets. The GTF chromium our bodies have to work with is depleted by the simple sugars we eat, stress, and aging. Some minerals, like zinc, will compete with GTF chromium for absorption into the system. Take these supplements a couple of hours apart from each other.
Use of Other Chromium Supplements
Do not confuse other chromium supplements with GTF chromium. All chromium supplements are not the same. Chromium picolinate is promoted to help users lose weight, build muscles, lower cholesterol, and reduce cravings. There are no studies to show that chromium picolinate can do any of that. The only study that showed any effect on cravings was among patients with depression.
One study showed that chromium picolinate may cause damage to DNA. This study was not performed on living organisms but was performed on cell cultures. A follow-up study was performed by researchers at New York University. With 400 mcg of chromium picolinate given to 10 overweight women for eight weeks, there was no sign of DNA damage.
Isolated Cases of Damage from Chromium Picolinate
- A woman taking 1,200 to 2,400 mcg of chromium picolinate, daily for 5 months developed kidney failure and impaired liver function.
- An individual took 600 mcg chromium picolinate for 6 weeks and developed kidney failure after five months.
- A healthy 24-year-old man developed reversible acute renal failure after two weeks on a supplement that contained chromium picolinate as the main ingredient.
According to authorities, daily doses of up to 1,000 mcg of GTF Chromium are safe. He recommends avoiding the chromium picolinate in favor of the GTF Cromium or chromium chelate. Dr. Weil also recommends individuals with type 2 diabetes or belly fat take supplements of 1000 mcg of GTF chromium daily. Make sure that your supplement does not contain additives, such as niacin unless chelated, and it should clearly state that the supplement has biological activity.
Is GTF Chromium Safe?
There have been no questions about the safety of GTF Chromium as there are regarding some of the others. As always, however, it’s a good idea to check with your doctor before taking any supplements. It is not unsafe until it reaches 2,000,000 mcg. That’s a lot of supplements one would have to take at one time to have any detrimental effects. Too much of anything is never a good thing.
Since insulin controls the absorption of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and nutrients our bodies require, GTF Chromium is recommended as an anti-aging and aging skin care supplement. We need our bodies to absorb nutrients and without proper functioning insulin levels, they are simply stored as body fat.
It is important to use only GTF Chromium because it is cultured with biologically active bacteria which are required to achieve optimal benefits. In addition to being an excellent supplement for aging skin care, it improves glucose metabolism, lowers blood sugar levels, lowers cholesterol levels, improves triglycerides in diabetics, and helps decrease belly fat.
