What Does 100% Pure Skin Care Really Mean?

It’s hard to find 100% pure skin care creams and lotions. You can’t tell by reading the label. You can’t rely on the manufacturer’s claims. But, if you want holistic skin care and the utmost purity, there is help.

The Environmental Working Group has created a cosmetic safety database called Skin Deep, where you can find out what the products you are using contain. They have evaluated a large number of products, but some of the newest ones have yet to be listed.

Other consumer advocacy groups are also trying to help by asking manufacturers to sign the “Compact for Safe Cosmetics”. Manufacturers that have signed the compact adhere to the European Union’s stringent standards for safety.

Regulations in the United States and many other countries are so lacking that a company can say that they provide 100% pure skincare solutions, without testing them for safety. No manufacturers are required to test for effectiveness.

There are only a handful of lotions and creams on the market that are completely safe and only one company that I know of that adheres to holistic skin care ideals. The company is a signer of the compact for safe cosmetics, but the products are new and as yet to be listed at Skin Deep.

I have the utmost confidence in the company because they have been in business for years and provide some of the best health supplements, available. They adhere to a holistic skincare philosophy, which I believe requires a little clarification.

The philosophy of medical care that the phrase refers to views physical and mental health aspects as closely interconnected, in other words, the whole person is considered, rather than just a single symptom or condition. For example, stress plays a role in skin conditions ranging from acne to eczema.

Those of us who adhere to this philosophy would only want 100% pure skin care products, because contaminants, allergens, and toxins can be absorbed through the skin, causing health problems ranging from minor rashes to cancer. We also want fragrance-free products, because constant exposure to added fragrances is irritating. But, those fragrances can also cause mental disturbances, such as anxiety and depression.

For a company to adhere to the holistic skincare philosophy, it must take all of these things into consideration. If they also want to provide an effective product, they have to complete clinical testing. If they want to provide 100% pure skin care, they should only include ingredients that are safe enough to eat.

Believe it or not, holistic skin care can also be anti-aging skin care. By addressing the issues that affect the health and beauty of your face and body, they also prevent the common signs of aging, such as sagging and wrinkling.

To protect the skin’s health and have lasting beauty, you need natural plant oils and botanical extracts, as well as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. All of those ingredients add up to 100% pure skincare that is also hundred percent safe and effective.
