I was overweight starting at a very young age. When I was eight years old, I started drinking Slim Fast to replace meals in order to lose weight. I was probably 10 years old in the left-side photo. No one believes me when I tell them I weigh as much or less now than I did then. Well, here’s your proof! I was the tallest person, male or female, in the whole first grade, so I hit my growth spurt early. Since elementary school, I’ve gone through cycles of restrictive dieting, binge eating, starvation and over exercising. Looking back, I very obviously had an unhealthy relationship with food.

It wasn’t until last year, at 33 years old, that I finally figured out my nutrition! I learned how to eat to fuel all my activities and not restrict myself. I was able to lose weight while still eating pasta, bread, ice cream, and yes, even pizza! 🍕 I lost 30 lbs and am able to run faster and achieve more of my fitness goals. This was by tracking macronutrients, which takes calorie counting a step further to ensure you’re eating a healthy balance of protein, carbs and fat (macros).

Now, I’m a nutrition coach and I teach others this flexible approach to eating! If you want 2021 to be the year that you figure out how to meet your goals without restricting yourself or trying yet another fad diet that doesn’t work, consider enrolling in my next Grit Squad nutrition group that starts Jan. 11 — only 11 spots left! • I love this and you! While we can’t change the beginning (especially when it comes to our childhood!), we can always write our own stories and give them a good ending! 😘❤️
