Vegan Thanksgiving Dinner 2022 (Menu + Recipes)

It seems like an impossible task right? Cooking a whole Thanksgiving meal without any animal products!? A lot of the traditional dishes we associate with a Thanksgiving table are designed for and by meat eaters.

To be fair, there are a few vegetarian Thanksgiving recipes (mac and cheese, green bean casserole), but I’ll be the first to admit that vegan food is not the first thing you think of when you think ‘Thanksgiving’.

So if you have vegan family members, a vegan friend or you’re trying the vegan lifestyle out for yourself, you’re probably going to want a bit of guidance. That’s where this Thanksgiving menu comes in!

I’ve got examples of all the best vegan Thanksgiving recipes, split into categories so you can easily design a menu for Thanksgiving day.

There are dips and sauces, soups, turkey replacements, a range of sides from roast veggies, to casseroles, to stuffing, and even desserts at the end.

If you pick one or two from each category, you’ll have a vegan feast ready in no time! If you want to save time, scroll to the bottom of the list, where I’ve put together some sample menus using these recipes.

  • 6 dates, dried (pitted)
  • 10 tbsp water (10 tbsp = 150 ml)
  • 1 avocado (medium)
  • 3 tsp cocao powder
  • ½ cup raspberries, fresh (other berries are fine too of course)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • Roughly chop the dates into small pieces.
  • Chuck them, the maple syrup and water into a food processor and blend until smooth.
  • Peel and add the avocado and cocoa. The easiest way to peel an avocado is to cut it in half, make a nick on each side and peel it like a banana.
  • Blend again until creamy.
  • Quick taste test – if you’d like it a little sweeter than add that tablespoon of maple syrup and quickly blend again.
  • Now garnish with berries of your choice, raspberries for example. Leave it in the fridge for an hour or so to cool.

Top Tips for Thanksgiving Dinner Prep!

It can be pretty overwhelming to prepare such a big meal, especially if you are having guests over. Here are some tips for easing the strain and making sure you have the best day possible!

  • Beat the crowds and go shopping a good few days before – most ingredients will keep!
  • Think about what you can make or prep ahead of time. For example, a pecan or pumpkin pie can be served cold, as can cranberry sauce. You can make a nut loaf the day before and store it raw in the fridge, so all you have to do on the day is pop it in the oven! Do what you can on the days leading up to Thanksgiving, then you’ll have more time to enjoy yourself!
  • If you love organising things, like me, I suggest making a schedule of all the different dishes’ cooking times. That way you can stagger when things go in, so that they are all ready at roughly the same time.
  • Ask for help! It’s a fun family activity to sit together and chop veggies, or nuts or whatever it may be!
